PostSubject: GP Rounds 19th and 20th November   Sun Oct 30, 2016 10:46 pm

Hi all,

Some good news. The final 2 rounds of the GP series will be held at WAG's shared outdoor venue, in Ranui Heights, Porirua, on the 19th and 20th of November.

For those shooters coming from out of town, and needing to source accomodation, the venue, is a quick dash along the motorway from Wellington, taking 20-25 mins. from Lower Hutt 25-30 mins, again along the motorway.

There are some nice hotels/motels in Johnsonville, which again is 15-20 mins along the motorway from Porirua.

* This is private land, and there is a fee payable to the landowner for usage. This fee is $10.00 per person per day. So 2 days of competition will cost you $20.00 + range fee of $5.00 per day.

* BYO Food and refreshments. The Ranui shops are nearby (the bakery is excellent). There are no toilet facilities at the venue.

I will update re directions to the venue, and timings etc in the coming days.

Cheers

Andrew

Here's a few places that are pretty close to the range in Porirua or very close . Only 5 - 10 min drive max.

Porirua city has everything you would need. Supermarkets, restaurants etc. All within 5 mins from the range.
So everything is right next to SH1.

Paul.

Will have some more details re the Weekend GP's coming soon. In the meantime, have a watch of the quick run down on the course. Forgive me being out of breath. Asthma playing up, and was a bit knackered. A few of us spent the day, up there working to get things ready for the GP's.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

We have a 10 Lane - 30 Target Course for you. Shot twice per day. 120 Target weekend.

More to follow soon.

**** Urgent Information ***

HI all, Due to the current seismic events happening in Wellington and the South Island. We will be assessing our venue on Wednesday this week.

1. Our venue is in a Forest Environment, on a slope. There is potential for falling tree's and branches, slips etc
2. We also do not want to put you at risk if your coming from out of town, to stay in accomodation that is currently being rocked by the continuing seismic events.

If on Wednesday, we find the venue is unsafe, or the seismic activity has not abated enough, WAG will have to postpone the final 2 GP's. To be re-visited at another time, or for them to be held at another venue.

I hope everyone can understand, and I will endeavour to have a decision as early as we can on Wednesday.

Hoping everyone stays safe.

Andrew

****  Update *****

Our venue has suffered quake, and storm damage to the point that it is UNSAFE for anyone to be in there at the moment for shooting.

The 19th and 20th in Wellington will not be going ahead in Wellington.

The BOG's will be in discussion as to either a postponement, or for another club to hold the finals before the end of 2016.   Stay tuned for announcements.

WAG are gutted about not being able to show you all our new venue.  As members have put a lot of time and effort into the development of our new outdoor area.    Mother nature obviously had other plans.     And we do not want to place anyone in harms way.

Regards

Andrew

That is a shame, mother nature can be a bitch sometimes.

Paiko Can host the event this weekend if needed, we know a lot of people have made plans for the trip down to wellington and it would be a shame for the weekend to go to waste.

The plan if we did host would be to have two 25 target courses to be shot over the two days a total of 50 targets to be shot twice. anyone who had planned to go to wellington on the firday is welcome to come and give a hand to setup and there is a place to sleep as well.

having said that, should the shoot be held at a later date in wellington we look forward to making the trip down to shoot.

You beat me to the posting Nunga.

It's been decided via discussion with the BOGS, that the finals will be postponed till next year. They will be hosted by WAG. At this stage looking at a weekend when school has gone back. So February sometime. This will also give WAG some time to re-build, the venue. We will build these into the 2017 Comp program.

Will keep you posted as to dates, in plenty of time for arrangements to be made.

Regards

Andrew

We had a very small window to work with to get everything setup in time and unfortunatly that window had closed yesterday, so no matter what the outcome was from the BOG we still would of withdrawn the offer.

Due to our Venues still being off limits to us.   NHAGC has kindly offered to hold the GP Finals on the one day.    Please see the below post, and respond in there.
