PostSubject: 2017 GP Registration    Thu Jan 19, 2017 7:14 pm

So the 2017 GP Series begins.    We are doing something different from last years format.

1.  We are not relying on a calendar of specific dates for the GP's
2.  They are being split into two Regional areas.   Northern Clubs, and Southern Clubs.
3.  The Southern Clubs will organise their own GP Shooting days.
4.  The Northern clubs are to COLLECTIVELY organise their own GP shooting days. Where the rounds are split between the clubs.

So NHAGC, PIAKO, WAGC get together and decide on who, is going to hold what round and when.   Alternating the rounds between each other.

Once a GP ROUND, has been organised. It's to be posted on the forum for people to be made aware of and to attend.

If you don't shoot a round, you score 0 for that round, like last years, You can't then hold that same numbered round at your own club and count that score.    (This is what I was meaning, which got lost in translation due to the post not being up, and I was tired and posting at 03:00 in the morning).

10 Opportunities for rounds to be held. If a GP shoot is held once a month. Your best 6 rounds count, to decide your regions winners. Finals between the two regions to decide the Overall GP winner.

If you shoot a particular round at a different region. Eg I'm in Auckland for a weekend and I attend Piako's Round 4 for example. My score for Round 4 will count only if I have not shot Round 4 in the Southern Region. I can't double dip between regions for the same round.

Series is open from February.    Registration cutoff is end of February.   Finals Date, and Venue still under discussion.   Will update people in plenty of time.

At this stage finals possibly in November.

I can see a huge floor in this new plan for the GP rounds. if each club is to have 10 rounds each.

"At this stage finals in November. So 10 possible GP Rounds. Your best will 6 will count. Welcome to shoot at any club whether that be in the North or South Regions. However if you shoot say round 3 at a different club, you can not go and shoot round 3 at your own club, and count that score."

Whats to stop anyone sticking to their own club or jumping between them knowing that they are the better shooter where they go and will grantee them max points. like north harbour has round on on feb 18 and then paiko on the following weekend. whats shopping me not going to north harbour where rob is because he is the one to beat on spring gun knowing that im the only spring gun shooter at myclub and i will get max points by shooting at my own club because everyone else shot the week before (kind of pointless really). This setup is floored to the max. With so many clubs hosting their own rounds this is going to happen anyway regardless if it is done on purpose.

Ssssaaaayyyy wwwhhhaaattt!!!

If I read this correctly, then there is absolutely no incentive to shoot at another club. I can shoot each round at NHAGC, Alex can shoot each round at PIAKO and Brian can shoot each round at WAGC... and we could all get 1000 points for round 1.

However if I chose not to shoot round 1 at NHAGC because Natali always beats me, then I can go shoot round 1 at PIAKO and hopefully get the win.

The top 3 shooters could each shoot at different clubs and get 1000 points each time ending with a tie of 6000 points. This will definitely be possible in springer.

Have I got this wrong?

Surely we need to coordinate 10 rounds in the North with 3 rounds NHAGC, 3 rounds PIAKO, 3 rounds WAGC and 1 round extra for 1 of the clubs.

Rob

***** My bad.   It was not clear at all. The link for the GP workings didn;t go through and didn't post.   ***

Does this make more sense. ?

OK, that's a bit clearer. Does the Southern League have a calendar for the GP rounds yet ?

Hi All

Our (NHAGC) remaining FT shoots for the year are listed below, there are a total of 9. It seems that NHAGC needs to host 5 x GP shoots for the year, so as a starting point I have identified the proposed GP's below.

Alex... can you propose PIAKO GP shoots in between?

26 March - GP1
23 April - NHAGC Club Champs
21 May - GP3
25 June - Club shoot
23 July - GP5
13 August - GP7
10 Sept - GP9
8 October - Club shoot
26 November - Club shoot

As mentioned this is a starting point open to change/suggestions etc. I have tried to get them in before Worlds, so that the Worlds shooters can get some extra practice.

Regards

Rob

Question - why are we scoring out of 1,000 when it makes much more send to use a % in the true sense being out of 100 ??????

Carl the scores can be done out of ten if you like. The thousand was used to get three decimal points. This system shows the most consistent shooter, not necessarily the shooter who knocks down the most targets.

Understood and not being awkward but since when was 97.623 % not a real number?

How can 64.2 million Brits be wrong Smile considering we are trying to keep up with their standards, why not adjust to their GP scoring system!

How does the UK scoring differ to what we have done? If that is the only difference, then I have no objection to changing it... it will take Davey a couple of seconds to make the change.

No difference Carl really, except 97.623 would just be 976, straight numbers and no decimal. I'm easy any way, it's all simple to understand you will still need to use the same formula. We only did it the 1000 way for those who had an aversion to decimal points.
